How to use Special Characters
This page explains the steps you need to perform from downloading Dynamic Photo sample characters to your computer, all the way up to getting ready to create a Dynamic Photo image.
1. First, download the files

Click one of the download links to download all of the sample characters (all.zip) or the sample characters for a specific category to your computer.

2. Open the downloaded file.

The downloaded file is a compressed (zip) file. Use unzip software* to unzip the file. This will create a folder named 100SOZAI. Open the folder and check to make sure it contains sample characters.

* Unzip software is available as freeware.
3. Prepare an SD card.

Prepare a blank SD card (one that does not have any data on it), and load it into your EXILIM.

Important!
• If you copy the sample characters to an SD card (step 5 below) that already contains images without formatting it (step 4 below), the camera may not be able to recognize the images. If the SD card contains images that you want to keep, copy the images to your computer or to other media.
• Performing the SD card format operation in the next step will delete all data currently on the card. Be sure to make a copy of any SD card contents you want to keep before formatting the card.
4. Format the SD card.

Turn on your EXILIM and enter the PLAY mode.

Press the MENU button to display the menu screen. Use the left/right keys to select Setup > Format, select the Format command, and then press the SET button.  After the format operation is complete, turn off your EXILIM.
5. Copy the sample characters to the SD card.

After making sure a blank, formatted SD card is loaded in your EXILIM, use the USB cable that comes with your EXILIM to connect it to your computer. After connecting your EXILIM, turn it on.
This should cause your computer to recognize the SD card loaded in your EXILIM. Use Explorer to open the SD card folder named DCIM (which was created by the EXILIM formatting operation), and check to make sure that it does not contain any files.
Next, copy the 100SOZAI folder (that you unzipped in step 2 above) into the SD card's DCIM folder.  After the copy operation is complete, turn off your EXILIM and then disconnect the USB cable from your EXILIM and computer.
Turn your EXILIM back on and enter the PLAY mode.  Check to make sure that you can display the eight animated characters (moving subjects) on the EXILIM monitor screen. If you can, you are ready to use the animated characters to create a Dynamic Photo.

Note:
Make sure you copy the entire 100SOZAI folder with all of its contents into the SD card's DCIM folder. Your EXILIM will not be able to recognize copied files if you copy individual files from 100SOZAI to the card, or if you copy the 100SOZAI folder to a different location inside the DCIM folder.
6. Create a Dynamic Photo image!
Without the USB cable connected, turn on your EXILIM.  In the PLAY mode, check to make sure that the sample characters you copied to your EXILIM above appear on the monitor screen. Click the button to the right to start using the moving subjects and create Dynamic Photo images!
