The new HIGH SPEED EXILIM series captures images at 160 fps (frames per second), selects the optimal image instantaneously and focuses on the selected image. CPU 1 records the image while CPU 2 focus the lens simultaneously, significantly accelerating the auto-focusing process.

As camera performance rises, the volume of data that has to be loaded at startup increases. The new HIGH SPEED EXILIM has shortened the start-up time by assigning this task to CPU 2 so that it can be conducted simultaneously with other processing tasks.

When it comes to the new HIGH SPEED EXILIM, all of us on the development team pride ourselves on having achieved a truly satisfying level of performance. We share the feeling of fulfillment that comes from doing all we could to accomplish what we set out to do.
We will, of course, continue our efforts to improve the functionality and operability of future models, but we believe our current product is one we can recommend to customers with the utmost confidence. Nothing would make us happier than to have large numbers of people experience this stress-free photography firsthand.

But the EXILIM Engine HS does even more than accelerate information processing. It also supports the following two functions:
-

The EXILIM Engine HS not only enables HIGH SPEED EXILIM users to capture still images but also to zoom in while shooting movies. When attending a school athletic meet, for instance, you can record your son or daughter running a race as a Full HD Movie and conduct burst shooting with a single push of the shutter button. This enables you to preserve fleeting facial expressions as high-quality still photos.

-

Reverse playback on the camera’s LCD of movies shot at high speed is now smooth and clear. This comes in particularly handy for checking your golf swing or batting stance, for example.
